Safety Sign Materials Compared: Vinyl, Rigid, Foamex, Aluminium, Glow and Reflective
Every sign here comes in six materials. Here is how to choose.
Self adhesive vinyl
A sticker that goes onto any smooth, clean surface. The cheapest option and ideal for doors, glass and painted walls indoors.
Rigid plastic (1mm)
A hard wearing self supporting sign supplied ready to screw or stick up. The sensible default for most indoor signs.
Foamex (3mm)
A thicker foamed PVC board, flat and tough, good for larger indoor signs and light outdoor use.
Aluminium composite (3mm)
A rigid metal faced board built for outdoors and demanding sites. Weatherproof and long lasting.
Photoluminescent
Glows in the dark for escape routes. See the photoluminescent guide.
Class 1 reflective
Bounces back light from headlights and torches, for roadside, car parks and low light areas.
